Yesterday Was a big day for Jordan. She got her second karate belt, this one white with yellow stripe. She tested with Mr Hui on Tuesday and she said she was ready for her next belt. He told me that she has very good kicks and her front punch is looking good too. I was so excited for her! Of course Minnesota weather did not cooperate with me and I was unable to make it to see her get the belt. My bus did not even get to the school until 5:00, it is normally her by 3:40 at the latest. Roads were bad, and drivers were even worse. I finally got to my van at 6:20 and home by 7:15. Dad did take some good pictures of her receiving her belt. I'll be there for the next one, by then maybe winter will be over. She is enjoying karate more, especially when she does well and the instructors tell her she is doing a good job. She is now working on her side stomps so she can break that board!!

Winter picnic
On Sunday we had a little outdoor adventure. We decided to have a fire and lunch in the woods. So Jordan and I went and scoped out the perfect picnic spot down below Jack's deer stand. We collected twigs and dead wood for a fire and made a little fire pit area. We went back to the cabin for the food, a bench and Daddy and headed back out. It was a lot of fun, and something I remember doing as a kid with my family. Jordan really enjoyed eating outside and playing in the woods. It was a beautiful day, the perfect day for a winter picnic. This summer we will have to make a more permanent area for picnics, something for more year round use.
Valentine Mishaps
We had a snowmobile trip planned for this weekend but, alas, there was no good snow to ride on. We did the next best thing, took a tool through the woods on the 4-wheeler. We only had Joe's wheeler at the cabin, so I rode on the back. This was a mistake! First he tried to drown me in the ditch bank by breaking through the ice. Ok, so I survived that one! Next we went out to the Mile High and through the back of Johnson's fields. Took some great pictures with the dog, and then he tried to kill me again on the was home. I was wearing one of my favorite Northwestern hooded sweatshirts and the hood got caught on a hanging branch. I was choking, so I could not tell Joe to stop until it pulled me nearly off the back of the machine and ripped the hood clean off the sweatshirt! I had a red mark on my neck and was a little raspy for a while. He is not getting rid of me that easily! We (I) made it back in mostly one piece, but the shirt was a causality and got burned in the fire, though I did save the picture of the Northwestern from the back. Captain was a wore out dog after more then a 5 mile run through the woods. He really wanted to ride on the wheeler with us but it did not work, we ran out of room. So, not a bad day, if I can ignore the attempts on my life (ha,ha).

A fresh look
This weekend I went for a fresh, bold new look in the basement. I wanted something outdoorsy to go with the bear mount and the deer skulls. I choose treehouse, the green, and red fury, the cranberry color. I think it turned out really good. I haven't hung all the mounts and pictures yet, I'll probably do that tonight.

Be careful or your face will stay like that!

So what happens the morning after a sleep over at my house? Well odd things, thats what! Josey came for an overnight Friday. The girls had a blast, dancing and playing rock star for me and the dog. The cat choose to opt out of this activity and hid in the basement. We also watched Nims Island which was really good. In the morning I was fooling around on the lap top and came upon Photo Booth and started playing around with the effects buttons. The girls really got into acting silly and having their faces distorted. I took a ton of pictures but these were the funniest. I did burn a disk of them all for Fawn to enjoy at home. I remember my Mom telling me my face would stay like that when I made faces, but this brings that phrase a whole new meaning! It was fun have Josey over, they get along much better now then even 6 months ago, or at least they settle their own differences. We also went to the mall Saturday afternoon and walked around ad then to Perkins for dinner. It was a busy weekend but a ton of fun!
